Who is this priest Melchizedek? Is he God himself? Is he a real historical priest? Evidently scholars have been theorising over this for years. I am not sure that who he is as important as what he does.
..."resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever." Jesus is out of this line...the line of Melchizedek....not the blood line....but the order of devotion to God.
Jesus... "has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life."
Jesus is our high priest that is our advocate before Our Father God...forever....this is why he is superior to other priest before him. Whats the big difference? "living forever."
"Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself."
Hallelujah.....what good news....this is our Jesus...our savior...our high priest...in the order of Melchizedek.
