No Longer as a Slave, But Better than a Slave

So who is this guy Onesimus...in Philemon 1?

Onesimus is a slave...probably a runaway...who has been mentored by Paul and also who has taken care of Paul while in prison.  So why is he the subject of this letter by Paul to Philemon?

Paul is trying to persuade Philemon to do the right thing.  Take him back!!!!  Paul has really gotten to know Onesimus in their time together...and Paul is vouching for Onesimus.

So Paul finally gives Philemon the ultimate challenge..."So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me." That's right...if you believe in me (and you owe me, big time...remember???) then you need to swallow your pride and take this former slave back in...not as a slave...but as a brother.
