Week 1- Week 26

The Word Became Flesh and Made His Dwelling Among Us

John the narrator of the Gospel of John (not John the Baptist) was a disciple and inner-circle friend of Jesus.  His version of the gospel is an eye-witness account of the life of Jesus...from one of Jesus' best friends.

John passionately tells of the "One" who speaks the cosmos into existence...the title/name John uses to describe Jesus is "The Word."   "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind."

After this beautiful account of creation...John then confirms that this Jesus is God's son who came to earth...and that John knew Him personally. "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."   John is convinced of Jesus Deity...and spends the rest of his gospel account detailing Jesus' miracles, life and His death and resurrection. How fortunate we are that John gave us his testimony...his version of the life and times of Jesus Christ...his best friend.
