I Ask That We Love One Another

John's audience has been discussed and debated....so let's listen to his message as if it were to us....because it is.


John starts by encouraging: "It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth..."


John then appeals to us..  "I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.."

This is not a new lesson...this is a lesson from God since the beginning.... Love one another.


So John helps us to define love...."And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love."


So the lesson is simple:  "walk in love"...How do we do that?  Be about others...not self.
