Matthew 18:21-35 is Jesus teaching his disciples (and us) about forgiveness.
After a question from Peter....Jesus goes into a subject that is at the heart of His ministry..."forgiveness."
His lesson about the unmerciful servant teaches us to extend the grace of forgiveness given to us...to others.
If our God is merciful and forgiving...we should also be merciful and forgiving.
The parable climaxes with these sobering words from the master,"You wicked servant, I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?"
Is there someone that you are withholding forgiveness? It is a question we should really think about....
I want to forgive everyone. Jesus has given us his all...his life... to forgive us...so, we must also forgive others.
"In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."
