“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
In this statement , Jesus really is stating His mission statement....
By reading this prophesy of Isaiah...Jesus is also telling all His hometown neighbors that it is He...that is the Christ...the long awaited Messiah. The people thought he was really nice until they figured out that he was claiming to be God's Son...then they were furious.
