Godliness with Contentment is Great Gain

Paul winds up his letter with some financial advice to his mentee Timothy about godliness and handling finances.  He starts off by saying, "For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it." That is the same as saying..."You can't take it with you!"

Paul reasons that if you have the basics....food and clothing....you ought to be content.  Chasing money will only be a trap leading you into all kinds of trouble and ultimately leading to destruction.

So what is Paul's financial advice?   Flee from being rich!!!!

What???? That doen't sound like sound financial advice.  Run away from being rich...instead...pursue righteousness.  That's right...pursue God and don't be eager for money. And finally Paul gives his best advise...."don't put your hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. "

If you can't take worldly wealth with you...why should we spend all of our energy and efforts pursuing financial gain? So Paul, the ultimate financial planner....gives us good sound advise:
1. Flee from financial gain
2.Be content with the basics
3.Pursue Godliness.
